The UNIVAC I used 5200 vacuum tubes, weighed 13 metric tons, consumed 125 kW, and could perform ~1905 operations per second. The whole system occupied more than 35.5m2 of area. Its main memory consisted of 1000 words which each contained 12 characters. 6 alphanumeric characters, packed 2 per word, were used as the instructions.
